District Update: Superintendent Jonathan Vasquez released a statement in response to the Los Angeles Fire Crisis

January 9, 2025

Dear Little Lake Community,

As the devastating fires continue to impact Los Angeles County and our region, I want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thoughts to everyone who has suffered immense loss. Please know that our hearts are with you during this difficult time.

We also extend our gratitude to the brave first responders who are tirelessly battling these treacherous fires around the clock to save lives and minimize damage.

The district has been closely monitoring the wind patterns and air quality to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Out of an abundance of caution, we have implemented inclement weather procedures to keep students indoors and limit their exposure to outdoor conditions.

In response to the strong winds, district staff have been monitoring school sites throughout the week, and there have been no direct impacts on Little Lake campuses.

Our schools remain open, but should circumstances change, we will notify families immediately through our usual communication channels.

Our students’ and staff’s safety is always our highest priority. Thank you for your trust, and we remain vigilant in monitoring this evolving situation.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Vasquez
Superintendent
Little Lake School District
