Santa Fe Springs, CA – The Little Lake City School District is proud to announce that its Family Resource Center (FRC) has been awarded the distinguished Golden Bell Award by the California School Boards Association (CSBA). This prestigious award acknowledges educational programs that demonstrate innovation and excellence in addressing the most pressing challenges facing today’s schools.
The FRC has become an essential lifeline for students and families within the district, providing a wide range of services including food distribution, mental health resources, and educational support. Its holistic approach aims to remove barriers to learning by addressing core issues such as housing insecurity, hunger, and access to basic necessities.
“The Golden Bell Award is a testament to the impact our Family Resource Center has had on improving student success,” said Jonathan Vasquez, Superintendent of the Little Lake City School District. “Thanks to the hard work of our FRC staff and strong community partnerships, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
Since its inception in 2016, the FRC has played a crucial role in supporting vulnerable populations such as foster youth, homeless students, and English learners. In the past year alone, the center has served over 928 students, providing much-needed stability through programs like “We’ve Got Your Back” and collaborations with local health providers.
Receiving the Golden Bell Award underscores the district’s ongoing commitment to removing obstacles that hinder student achievement. As the FRC continues to grow and evolve, the district is eager to further its mission of ensuring that all students have access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, and we look forward to continuing our work with community partners to meet the needs of our students and families,” said Gina Ramirez, Board President of the Little Lake City School District. “This award is a reflection of the dedication and care that goes into building a strong and supportive educational community.”
