Inter-District Permit Window

The window for obtaining a permit for the 2024-2025 school year closed on May 31st 2024. If you have recently moved, and your child is currently attending a school outside of our district, please contact Educational Services at (562) 868-8241.

The window for to obtain a permit for the 2025-2026 school year will open on January 6, 2025.

Permit Process

All documents must be emailed to registrationinfo@llcsd.net.
Make sure to include all required documents in your email as listed below. Incomplete permit requests will not be processed.

  1. Completed application for Inter-District Attendance Permit – A copy is available under Important Documents
  2. Required verification documentation from the list below.
  3. Proof of Residence (utility bill with name and address of parent/guardian dated within the past two months)
  4. Parent/guardian ID
  5. Birth Certificate

Educational Services will process the inter-district permit application and provide a decision within 30 days. The permit will be granted or denied and the original permit will be mailed to the district of attendance, a copy will be mailed to the parent/guardian, and LLCSD will maintain a copy. If denied, the parent/guardian will receive information regarding the appeal process and will have 30 days to submit their appeal.

Reasons for granting Inter-District Attendance Permits and Verification/Documentation

  1. Child Care – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their child care provider is located outside of the Little Lake City School District (LLCSD) and within the requested school/district boundaries.
    • Verification Required (letter from child care provider, proof of enrollment, with child care address) If your child care provider is a private in home provider, a utility bill (electric, gas, garbage) dated within the past two months is required. The provider must live within the requested district. 
  2.  Parent Employment – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their place of employment is located within the requested district’s boundaries.
    • Verification Required (signed letter from employer, pay stub)
  3.  Sibling – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if the child’s sibling is currently attending another district.
    • Verification Required (Proof of sibling(s) enrollment with requested district)
  4.  Proposed Change of Residency – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if they will be moving within the trimester.
    • Verification Required (escrow papers, rental agreement, utility bill)
  5.  Specialized Program – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if the requested district offers a specialized program that is not currently offered at LLCSD.
    • Verification Required (documentation of special program that LLCSD does not offer, documentation must be attached, links are not sufficient)
  6.  Continuing Enrollment – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their child is currently enrolled in elementary school and will transition to a middle school within the same district.
    • Verification Required (proof of enrollment with requested district)
  7.  Complete Final Year at Current School – Parents can request an Inter-District Attendance Permit if their child is completing their final year at their current school.
    • Verification Required (proof of enrollment with requested district)
  8.  Other – Parents can request in writing their reasons for applying for an Inter-District Attendance Permit.
    • Verification Required (detailed parent letter stating reasons for request)
